Manchester by the Sea harbor

Went up to the North Shore (Essex & Manchester by the Sea, to be precise). Essex for the clams at Woodsman’s of Essex, home of the best fried clams in Massachusetts, and Manchester by the Book, a delightful bookstore in Manchester by the Sea. The weather was delightful. Clear, breezy, warm but not too hot. A perfect day for a relaxing Gin & Tonic.

On the way back, I passed Verrill Farms, a local farm that grows delightful strawberries, amongst other things. I grabbed some.

I’ve been hungry to try the Strawberry Coriander pairing, as I mentioned in Why does Gin & Topic taste so good together?

Today’s refreshing concoction: the Strawberry Coriander Gin & Tonic.

Ingredients
#

  • 3 strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/8 teaspon ground coriander (more to taste) (fresh ground best, commercial ground will work)
  • 2 oz Bombay Sapphire gin
  • 1/4 t sugar

Muddle 2 of the strawberries together with a splash of lemon juice, the sugar and the coriander. Add crushed ice and gin. Shake vigourously. Pour into a highball glass, top with tonic water. Serve with a straw.
