Yesterday we covered with Gin & Tonic taste so good together. The science suggests some other pairings, like Strawberry and Coriander. In the interests of science, we explore. For your scientific pleasure, we offer up the Jumping Ions cocktail.
Jumping Ions#
Ingredients#
- 2 oz Bombay Sapphire gin
- 1/4 oz vermouth
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
- 1 strawberry
- 1 t coriander seeds, crushed
- 1 dash chili powder
- cilantro garnish
Instructions
Crush the coriander seeds with a mortar/pestel (or use 1/4oz ground coriander). Drop into a cocktail shaker and muddle with 1 strawbery and the chili powder. Drop in crushed ice, gin, vermouth and simple syrup. Shake well, pour into a martini glass. Gently crush a few leaves of cilantro (the plant from which coriander comes) and drop into the glass. In my first experiment (without the syrup and chili powder), the drink was slightly bland. Adding the syrup to sweeten and the chili powder to bite.
